    We will be performing maintenance on some of our web servers.

    What happens during maintenance?

    A number of our web servers are still running on Centos 7.9, Centos 7.9 is EOL (end of life) from June 30, 2024. This means that we will upgrade the web servers to a different operating system.

    Nothing changes for the customer, everything continues to work the same as it does now.

    We expect websites to be unavailable for approximately 10 to 25 minutes.

    Installing an operating system works properly again.

    The problem has been largely resolved, we are still working on a few adjustments to prevent this in the future.

    We are currently experiencing some problems when performing an OS installation for both our VPS and Dedicated Servers in IJsselstein. The server that performs the installations is currently overloaded. It is therefore possible that an installation freezes or is very slow. We are working on a solution.

    We are making some upgrades to the IJsselstein network during maintenance. For example, NL-IX will be added and we will start using the DDoS Protection from eranium.io together with NaWas.

    In addition, customers with a Dedicated server that still has a public IP address for IPMI will be converted to an internal IP. And some subnets will be converted to another router.

    We expect this to be the last maintenance for a long time.

    Our name servers are currently only available via IPv4, on the night of July 5 the name servers will be prepared for IPv6.

    Our name servers are redundant. As a result, no interruption is expected, just make sure you use all 3 or at least 2 of our name servers.

    The maintenance has been completed successfully. Unfortunately with a slightly longer interruption than we had hoped. We will continue to monitor it in the coming days, but are confident that this is the permanent solution.

    We are still seeing some countries unable to reach our services. Emergency maintenance will be carried out tonight to resolve this permanently.

    Postmortem:

    There was a scheduled maintenance event to replace one of the core routers, which seemed to go well without any downtime. However, after the replacement it turned out that the router no longer wanted to process and forward IX traffic. As a result, we completely shifted traffic to the second router to investigate the problem.

    When the traffic was switched back, the OSPF sessions no longer came online, which also meant that iBGP was not established. This made part of the network inaccessible to part of the world.

    Something is currently going wrong with the routing on the core in Amsterdam, a solution is being worked on.
